Step 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 2. In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 beaten egg, 1 finely chopped onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 cup of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
Step 3. Shape the beef mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of mustard to make a glaze. Spread this glaze over the meatloaf.
Step 5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
Step 6. For the mashed potatoes: Peel and cut 2 pounds of potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.
Step 7. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 1/4 cup of butter and 1/4 cup of cream. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 8. Serve the meatloaf with the mashed potatoes alongside.
